The idea

Climb on wheels.
Fly on wings.

The name says it all. Riders earn their height on the bike, climbing 700+ metres over 30 km of Himalayan road. Then the mountains are handed over to the paragliders of the Shimla Flying Festival, and the podium flies with them.

1

Ride

30 km on two wheels through the hills around Junga.

2

Rise

700+ metres of climbing: a real test of strength, pacing and mountain endurance.

3

Fly

The top three in every category win cash and a tandem paragliding flight.

Race rules

Race rules
  • A helmet is compulsory for every rider, the whole time on the bike.
  • Ride only on the marked route and follow marshals, police and road-safety rules. Roads may not be fully closed to traffic.
  • Bring your original ID (the one you uploaded) for race-day check-in. You collect your bib only after check-in.
  • Your category is decided by your date of birth on 29 November 2026. Each rider races in one category only.
  • The organisers may delay, shorten, change or cancel the race for safety, weather, road conditions or permissions.
  • Unsafe riding, taking a short cut, outside help that is not allowed, or false registration details can lead to disqualification.
Girls Open category

Girls Open Category: minimum participation requirement. The Girls Open category will be an official category only if five or more female participants check in on race day. The decision is based on the riders who check in and are confirmed present by the organisers on race day, not on the number of registrations or payments received.

If fewer than five girls check in, the category will not be official, but the girls can still take part in the race and will get their podium; no prize money is awarded in that case.

Prizes
  • Total prize pool ₹1,00,000. In each official category: 1st ₹15,000, 2nd ₹10,000, 3rd ₹7,000.
  • Podium finishers also win a complimentary tandem paragliding flight at The Glide Inn, Junga.
  • Flights depend on weather and wind, site and flight permissions and the pilot's safety assessment, and may be rescheduled. The operator's age, weight and health limits apply.
  • Any podium winner under 18 must have a separate parent or guardian consent for paragliding before flying. The cycling consent does not cover it.
  • Prize details such as validity and transfer follow the published prize rules.
Riders under 18
  • There is no minimum age. Riders under 18 on race day need a parent or legal guardian's consent.
  • The parent receives a secure link by email, confirms with a one-time code and signs on their own phone or computer.
  • Registration is approved only after the parent's consent is complete.
Privacy notice: what we do with your details

What we collect: your name, date of birth, gender, contact details, city and state, blood group, an emergency contact, any medical note you choose to share, a photo or scan of one ID, and your signature. For riders under 18, the parent's or guardian's name, relationship, email, mobile and signature.

Why: to check eligibility and your category, run the race safely (emergency contact, blood group, medical note), confirm the parent's consent, contact you about your registration, and keep a record of the declarations signed.

Who can see it: only the event team, through a password-protected admin panel. ID documents and signatures are kept in a private folder that is not reachable from the internet, and every time someone opens an ID it is logged. We never publish your ID, date of birth or contact details; start lists and results show your name and category only.

How long: ID documents are deleted after the event once results are final. Signed declarations and consent records are kept as long as the law requires for event records.

Your choices: you can ask us to correct your details at any time, or to withdraw your registration. Write to shimlaflyingfestival@gmail.com.

Payments and changes
  • The registration fee is ₹1,000 per rider/participant, paid online through Razorpay. We never see or store your card or UPI details.
  • Accommodation is not included in the registration. For accommodation the night before race day, participants can contact us at +91 84279 95135.
  • Paying the fee does not by itself confirm your place: the organisers approve each registration after checking it.
  • If we find a mistake in your details, we will call you and send a link to correct the same registration; your registration number stays the same and you do not pay again.
  • For cancellations or questions about the fee, contact the organisers.
