The Shimla Flying Festival 2024 was an extraordinary gathering of paragliding pilots, adventure enthusiasts, and mountain lovers at The Glide Inn, Junga — nestled at over 5,000 feet in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh.

Set against the spectacular backdrop of the Junga valley and the snow-capped peaks of the Greater Himalayas, the festival brought together tandem pilots, solo flyers, and spectators for a multi-day celebration of free flight.

The event was more than a competition — it was a platform to promote adventure tourism in Himachal Pradesh, showcase the natural flying conditions of the Junga site, and connect the growing community of paragliding enthusiasts across India.

Day 1 — Morning

Inauguration & Pilot RegistrationWelcome ceremony, pilot briefing, weather check, and official flag-off at the Junga launch site.

Day 1 — Afternoon

Free Flying & Tandem DemonstrationsOpen flying sessions for all registered pilots. Tandem demonstration flights for guests and spectators — experience the Himalayan thermals first-hand.

Day 1 — Evening

Welcome Bonfire & Cultural NightEvening bonfire with traditional Himachali music, local cuisine and a warm welcome for all participants.

Day 2 — Full Day

Main Competition RoundsAccuracy and distance flying competition rounds. Pilots scored on landing precision, air time, and manoeuvre execution across two rounds.

Day 2 — Evening

Adventure Activities & Social EveningTree-top adventure, zorbing, trekking, and group activities for all attendees. Dinner and performances under the stars.

Day 3 — Morning

Final Rounds & AwardsFinal flying rounds, announcement of winners, prize distribution, and certificates for all participating pilots.

Day 3 — Afternoon

Open Tandem Flights & ClosingOpen tandem flights for all guests. Official closing ceremony and farewell.
